1. Clean and inspect the car. Give your vehicle a quick wash and take photos of any existing dents, scratches, or interior wear. This protects you if damage occurs during transit.

2. Remove personal items. Take out all loose objects – GPS units, toll tags, child seats, aftermarket accessories, and anything that could shift or break. The carrier is not liable for items left inside.

3. Check fluids and battery. Ensure the gas tank is no more than a quarter full to reduce weight. Verify oil, coolant, and brake fluid are at proper levels, and make sure the battery is fully charged.

4. Secure or remove exterior accessories. Fold in side mirrors, detach roof racks, bike racks, or spoilers if possible. If they cannot be removed, tighten all bolts and fasteners.

5. Disable alarms and anti‑theft devices. Turn off any alarm systems that could be triggered during loading. Provide the carrier with a working set of keys (including remote fobs) so they can operate the doors and start the engine if needed.

6. Document the condition. Take clear photos of the front, rear, sides, and interior. Keep a copy for your records and share it with the carrier before pickup.

A designated (adult) must be present at pickup and delivery. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.

Open transport uses a standard flat‑bed trailer with two or three lanes. It is the most common and cost‑effective way to ship a vehicle in Kansas. Your car is secured with straps and a tarp, but it remains exposed to weather, road debris, and occasional dust.
