How to prepare your vehicle for shipping in New Hampshire

1. Clean the car – remove trash, personal items, and any loose accessories from the interior and trunk. Anything left behind can shift or be damaged.

2. Check fluids and battery – make sure the gas tank is no more than a quarter full, oil and coolant are at proper levels, and the battery is charged. Low fuel reduces weight and prevents leaks.

3. Secure or remove accessories – take off roof racks, bike racks, spoilers, antennas, and any aftermarket parts that could be bent or broken. If you cannot remove them, note them for the carrier.

4. Disable toll passes and alarms – detach any electronic toll tags and turn off alarm systems that could interfere with the carrier’s equipment.

5. Gather keys and paperwork – keep the vehicle key(s) and the title or registration handy for the driver. Provide a copy of the title if required.

6. Document the condition – take clear photos of the exterior and interior before loading. This helps resolve any disputes about damage.

Yes. All carriers we work with carry a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. Before a vehicle leaves the terminal, we verify that the carrier’s policy is current and in good standing for the entire trip. If an incident occurs, the carrier’s cargo insurance handles the claim, and we assist you through the process.

Plan ahead. We suggest booking your pickup at least 14 days before you need it. During peak months (May-September) a longer lead time—up to 3-4 weeks—helps us find a carrier and bundle your load with nearby shipments, which can lower costs and keep your schedule on track. If you have a flexible date, let us know; a later pickup may still be possible, but early booking gives the best chance of a smooth, on-time move.

We accept all forms of payment. We can arrange credit cards or arrange for you to pay the carrier directly through cash/certified check. We even accept payment via Cash/Zelle/Venmo.

Your shipment with SAKAEM includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. If your shipment includes ocean transit (Hawaii shipments), your vehicle must be emptied of all items. A designated (adult) must be present at pickup and delivery. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.

Open transport uses a standard multi‑car trailer with a removable top. It is the most common and cost‑effective method, typically 40‑50% cheaper than enclosed. Vehicles are protected from the elements but are exposed to road debris, weather, and occasional dust.

Enclosed transport uses a fully covered trailer that shields the car from weather, road salt, bugs, and debris. It is ideal for high‑value, classic, or custom‑paint vehicles. The added protection raises the price by roughly 50% or more.

In New Hampshire, both options are available year‑round. Choose open for everyday cars when budget matters, and choose enclosed when protection outweighs the extra cost.
