Car Shipping in New Mexico: 2025 Costs & Routes

So we set out to create a company that would be different. We want to walk you through how the process works and we guarantee to match any price you hear from a competitor.

Before your car leaves New Mexico, take a few quick steps to keep it safe and avoid extra fees.

1. Clean and inspect. Wash the exterior and take photos of any existing scratches or dents. This gives you proof of condition.

2. Remove personal items. Take out all loose items, toll tags, GPS units, and anything that could break or be stolen. Carriers are not liable for items left inside.

3. Check fluids and battery. Make sure the oil, coolant, and windshield‑washer fluid are at proper levels. The battery should be at least 50 % charged so the carrier can move the vehicle.

4. Secure the fuel tank. Keep the tank no more than a quarter full. This reduces weight and lessens the chance of leaks.

5. Disable alarms and give a spare key. Turn off any anti‑theft alarms and provide the driver with a working key (or a lock‑box code) for loading and unloading.

6. Check tire pressure. Inflate tires to the recommended PSI to avoid flat spots during transport.

Yes. At Sakaem Logistics every carrier we work with must carry at least $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. Before your car leaves the terminal we verify the carrier’s policy is active and in good standing for the entire trip, so your vehicle is covered from pick‑up to delivery in New Mexico.

Schedule early. We suggest booking your pickup at least two weeks in advance. During peak moving times (summer, holidays) aim for three to four weeks so carriers can group your car with other shipments near you. The earlier you post, the more options you get and the lower the chance of delays.

We accept all forms of payment. We can arrange credit cards or arrange for you to pay the carrier directly through cash/certified check. We even accept payment via Cash/Zelle/Venmo.

Your shipment with SAKAEM includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. If your shipment includes ocean transit (Hawaii shipments), your vehicle must be emptied of all items. A designated (adult) must be present at pickup and delivery. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.

Open transport uses a standard flatbed trailer with multiple vehicles side‑by‑side. It is the most common and cheapest option, typically 30‑50% less expensive than enclosed service. The cars are exposed to wind, rain, road debris and sun, so it works well for everyday cars, trucks or SUVs that can tolerate normal weather and minor scratches.

Enclosed transport uses a fully covered trailer that shields the vehicle from the elements and road debris. Because the trailer holds fewer cars, the price is usually 40‑60% higher. This method is best for classic, collector, high‑value or custom‑paint cars, as well as any vehicle that needs extra protection from dust, salt or harsh sun in New Mexico.

Both services include the basic insurance required by federal law, and delivery times are similar. The main trade‑off is cost versus protection: choose open for a budget‑friendly move of a regular vehicle, and choose enclosed if protecting the finish and interior is a priority.

Yes. Sakaem Logistics offers door‑to‑door auto transport throughout New Mexico. When you book, we ask for the exact pickup and delivery addresses you want. Our carrier will travel to those locations, load your vehicle, and deliver it directly to the drop‑off address you provide. If a street is too narrow, a weight limit exists, or a location is unsafe, we will work with you to choose a nearby safe spot such as a well‑lit parking lot or a gas station. The service covers any city or town in NM, from Albuquerque to smaller communities like Farmington or Roswell. The price you see includes the door‑to‑door handling; there are no hidden terminal fees. Our goal is to make the move as simple as possible while keeping costs low, just as we have done since 2012.

We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, electric vehicles, vans and motorcycles across all 48 continental states + Hawaii. Our services even provide shipment for golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship vehicles that don’t run so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. The only exception is boats, which we do not transport.
