How Does the Massachusetts Car Shipping Service Work

This is how Massachusetts car shipping works:

Request a Quote: Start by filling out our online form or get in touch with us directly. Provide essential details about your vehicle, such as the make and model, preferred time and method of transfer, and the pick-up and delivery locations. Remember, calling our line to get a quote is completely toll-free!

Schedule the Pick-up: We’ll call you to arrange a convenient vehicle pick-up time, coordinating with you to ensure your vehicle is ready for transport. If any questions arise, we’ll guide you through the whole process and instruct you on what to look out for when preparing your car. Based on all of these, we will select a highly-vetted, reputable carrier to transport your car.

Pickup: Before loading, you will need to perform another inspection of your vehicle to document its condition with photos and notes for insurance purposes.

Delivery: Once your car hits the road, all that there will be is… waiting for your car to arrive. Then, you’ll just need to inspect it once again, this time to ensure that no damage has occurred when your vehicle was being transported.

In Massachusetts, we ship luxury and classic automobiles

Using an enclosed auto carrier to transport exotic and antique cars to Massachusetts is a terrific option. While open auto transportation is more convenient to book due to strong demand, enclosed auto carriers provide additional services such as shipping and maintaining classic and luxury vehicles while in transit. Hydraulic lift gates to load and unload low-clearance automobiles, a tracking system that monitors and sends phone and email updates about the car's transit progress, and the ability to ship vehicles by covered single or multi-car carrier are just a few of the features.

Because we transport vehicles in a covered truck or trailer, the chance of damage due to poor road or weather conditions is reduced, lowering the risk of costly repairs. If you possess a luxury, antique, or historic car that needs to be transported in Massachusetts, enclosed auto carriers' high insurance policy limits may be advantageous. Our carriers and drivers have extensive expertise transporting such vehicles and can provide high-quality service to and from Massachusetts.

Massachusetts Safety Measures for the Automobile Transportation Industry

While covered carriers provide the best protection against the weather, open carriers can be just as effective and considerably more cost-effective in the auto transport industry. The surrounding cars and beams minimise the area exposed to the elements, and our Ma auto transportation services drivers avoid rough roads to avoid accidents.

Most significantly, because you are not driving the automobile to its destination, no more miles, wear, or tear is contributed regardless of the type of carrier you choose for Massachusetts auto transport. Consider it as if you were leaving your car in a surveyed mobile parking lot for a few days. It's equally secure.

How to Get an Auto Transport Company's Price Estimate

If you're going to phone our office's toll-free number, make sure you have a few minutes to talk about things properly. Our experts will be able to provide you with a free quote and tailored service for Massachusetts vehicle shipping based on your needs.

You may locate our online service form in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Please read all of the instructions and fill out all of the Massachusetts auto transport fields. You must enter a valid pick-up date and personal details to receive competitive prices.

How much does it cost to ship an automobile to another state?

When shipping an automobile to or from Massachusetts, the distance the car must travel is the most critical element impacting the cost. The farther the distance, the more the car will cost to ship.

The size and weight of the car, as well as any specific shipping needs, can all effect shipping prices (e.g., insurance, etc.).

You may get a general estimate of the cost of transporting your car to or from Massachusetts by using an online shipping calculator. Keep in mind that, depending on real shipping conditions, the ultimate cost may be greater or lower than the estimate.

Ship My Car to Massachusetts

Do you need to transport your car, truck, SUV, or golf cart to Massachusetts for a long-term trip or a move? You may be tempted to drive or tow the vehicle yourself, but unless you have the necessary professional equipment and ability, you risk damaging your vehicle or yourself during loading, unloading, or transit. Shipping an automobile with a professional agency can relieve the stress of moving and travelling while also ensuring the safety of your vehicle.

Prepare the following details before dealing with a competent auto shipping carrier or broker:

• Destinations of pick-up and drop-off

• Time frame

• Vehicle type, size, and age

• Desired transportation timeline

Residents of New Massachusetts must register

Within the first 30 days of your move, you must change your car registration from your prior state of residence to a Massachusetts registration at the RMV office. You'll need to get your automobile titled as well, which you can do at the same time as the registration.

If your car has been registered in another state for longer than 6 months, you are excused from paying Massachusetts sales tax. The same exemption applies if you purchased your car in Massachusetts, registered it in another state, and now want to transfer it to Massachusetts. You are excused from paying a titling charge if your car is older than 1980 or if you bought it before November 26, 1990.

Conversion of Registration

You'll have to go through a few steps to change your vehicle registration to a Massachusetts registration:

• Speak with a Massachusetts-licensed insurance agent:

• Purchase an auto insurance policy;

• Request a title and registration application from the agent:

• Double-check that the agent has stamped and signed the application;

• Double-check that the application has the vehicle title number and the full name of the lienholder, if the car has a lien;

• Sign the completed application;

• Submit the following paperwork to the local Registry of Motor Vehicles office:

• The completed and dated application for title and registration;

• The form exempting you from the tax on cars purchased outside of Massachusetts;

• The title from your previous state of residency;

• Proof of payment for the appropriate fees and taxes

The validity term for your registration will vary depending on whether you choose a biannual or yearly licence plate.

Please keep in mind that you must have your car inspected within 7 days of registration. In a maximum of ten business days, you will get the new title by mail.

How to Register Your Vehicle in Massachusetts

If you acquired your car from a private individual or a dealership, the registration process in Massachusetts is different.

Automobiles purchased from a dealership require registration.

If you buy an automobile from a dealership, whether it's new or old, you must register it with the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles.

• With the above form, go to an insurance agent's office and buy a car insurance policy stamped and signed by an approved Massachusetts agent;

• With the above form, go to an insurance agent's office and buy a car insurance policy stamped and signed by an approved Massachusetts agent;

Submit the following documentation to the RMV office:

• Proof of ownership;

• Manufacturer's origin certificate (applicable for new vehicles);

• A form of re-assignment or the previous owner's title certificate (applicable for used cars);

• Previous certificate of registration and sale bill for cars that are exempt from titling due to their age;

• Payment for the car's sales tax, registration taxes, and titling fee.

You will receive your licence plates and your vehicle's registration certificate on the same day. The title for the car, on the other hand, will be mailed to you within 10 working days.

You will be required to submit your car to an inspection within 7 days of registration.

Automobiles Purchased or Received as Gifts

The registration process differs slightly depending on how you got your hands on the vehicle: whether it was given to you or whether you purchased it.

Vehicles purchased

To register an automobile purchased in a private transaction, perform these steps:

• Obtain a car insurance policy from a Massachusetts-licensed agency;

• Have the agent complete, stamp, and sign an official form for titling and registration;

• If your vehicle is the subject of a lien, be mindful of including the lienholder's details.

You must submit the following papers to the Registry of Motor Vehicles after acquiring an insurance coverage in your name and completing the form as required by law:

• The title certificate of the first owner, signed by the buyer and the seller;

• The prior certificate of registration or the sale bill for cars exempt from titling due to their age;

• A mileage statement;

• Payment for the sales tax, titling charge, and registration cost.

The licence plates and vehicle registration will be given to you on the spot, and the title will be mailed to you in 10 working days. According to Massachusetts state law, your new car must undergo an inspection within seven days of registration.

Vehicles that have been given to you

You may not have to pay sales tax if you receive a vehicle as a gift from one of the following family members:

• Daughter or son,

• Mother or Father,

• Wife or Husband,

• Brother or Sister

The steps for registering a car acquired as a gift are as follows:

• Obtaining an automobile insurance coverage;

• Obtaining a title and registration application.

• The insurance agent must fill, stamp, and sign it;

• Submitting these documents to the RMV office:

• The title and registration application;

• A document requesting an exemption from use or sales tax for cars purchased outside of Massachusetts;

• The initial owner's title certificate or the sale bill.

• The titling fee, registration fee, and gift charge must all be paid.

The plates and registration document will be given to you at the RMV office. However, you will have to wait up to 10 working days for the title certificate to arrive in the mail. It is your duty to have your car inspected within the first seven days of registration.

How to Transfer a Massachusetts Automobile Registration

To transfer your car registration to a new vehicle, you must meet the following requirements:

• The old vehicle's registration must be active;

• Both vehicles must have the same owner on their registration;

• The two cars' specifications must be comparable (I.e. the registration fee should be of the same value).

If you meet the following criteria, you can transfer the registration of your old car to a new vehicle within 7 days of selling or disposing of the old one:

• The two vehicles are identical (registration cost, wheel number, etc.) and you are over the age of 18.

• You must have the transfer documentation with the first registration information on you at all times.

• You sold or otherwise disposed of your old vehicle;

• You installed the licence plates on your new vehicle.

The registration transfer will be complete once you've completed all of the above stages and paid the legal transfer fee, depending on how you purchased the car.

Registration Fees in Massachusetts

The fees for vehicle registrations in Massachusetts vary based on factors such as:

• the type of car to be registered;

• the period of time to renew the registration (biennial or yearly); and

• the type of licence plates to be used: specialty or regular plates.

Exemptions and Requirements for Sales Tax

Sales taxes will be paid at a rate of 6% of the car's purchase price. If the car is being transferred from or gifted by a family member; the vehicle was registered for at least 6 months in the state where it was purchased (other than Massachusetts); or you previously purchased a car in Massachusetts and had it registered in another state, you won't have to pay sales taxes.

If the vehicle you're registering was purchased in Massachusetts but registered elsewhere, you'll need to present the following documentation in order to be excused from paying sales tax:

• The delivery letter, which includes:

• the phone number, address, and name of the person selling the car;

• the name of the person who delivered the vehicle;

• the address of delivery;

• the name of the person who received the vehicle;

• the method of delivery; and

• the signature of the person who sold the car (the authorised representative, for dealerships).

Non-residents and military personnel must register their vehicles in Massachusetts

Military personnel stationed in Massachusetts should register in the same way that civilians do. Military personnel stationed outside of Massachusetts who wish to obtain a registration for a vehicle purchased in the state should do so via mail.

Non-resident military members stationed in Massachusetts should preserve their registrations from their home states. They should, however, follow the registration procedures for civilians if they want to register their vehicles in Massachusetts.

MA non-residents

You are not required to register your car with the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles if you are a Massachusetts student who maintained your residency in your home state while commuting to or living in Massachusetts for work, school, or other reasons. You must, however, provide the local police with a statement as a driver from another state. Failure to do so could result in a punishment of $200.
